Hi Dave this is Steve from the diesel doctor. We received your question. I think we can help you out but we got a few questions for you. Do you know what your oil pressure is at a idle. Also are you sure it is in the engine. How many miles do you have on that engine. |

My Oil Pressure I believe was normal as before. It sounds like its coming from the back of the engine. you can hear it in the cab real good. i got about 160,000 miles on it |

after letting off accelerator. truck surges ahead like the accelerator pedal was pushed. feels almost like the key was turned off and on. runs great as long as you are accelerating. has a gale banks turbo kit, new fuel filter, clean fuel. exhaust is clean the whole time. has an automatic transmission. when coasting in gear. surges repetitively and constantly. about 8 seconds intervals between the surges. thanks for any input. |

I ALSO HAVE AN ’86 DIESEL IN A SUBURBAN. I HAVE A SMALL FUEL LEAK AND THE MOTOR SEEMS TO BE A BIT LOW ON POWER. FUEL MILEAGE IS GOOD 18 OR SO IN TOWN. THE FILTER AND INJECTOR PUMP HAVE BEEN CHANGED AND STARTS UP GOOD COLD BUT SMOKES UNTIL IT WARMS UP. I BELIEVE THAT THE FUEL LEAK IN NEAR THE INJECTOR PUMP, MAY A LOOSE LINE THAT IS ALSO SUCKING A LITTLE AIR! ANY HELP YOU COULD OFFER WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED. THE MOTOR HAS 135,000 MILES ON IT. PLEASE ADVISE….THANK YOU! |

dear steve could you please tell me the HP rating for a 6.2 diesel. i’ve got one in my boat and i’ve been told anything from 120 to 160hp????? also is it possible without toooooo much difficulty to turbo these things……another 5-10 knots would be great!!!!!!!!hey the fish are biting big time here in NZgo team NZ….don’t give it back to Dennis!cheersGraeme |

I have a problem with the amount of smoke that is coming out of my exhaust its outrageous could it be the fuel or is it running to rich what causes the motor to smoke that much because not to long ago it wasn’t smoking at all? |

83 chevy 4×4 blazer just rebuilt 6.2 liter diesel and it is hard to start when cold installed new glow plugs and still hard to start when cold, it seem like it is running real rich (white smoke) may be I got a couple of fuel lines switched up??? or out of timing order!!!! Would it not even run??? |

I have just acquired an 85 Fleetwood Motorhome with a 6.2 GM Diesel. It still runs good as far as I can tell, I’m more familiar with gas than diesel. From looking out on the web I have found there are many improvements that can boost performance, I.E. water injection, exhaust, different type of breather. This beast has 93k on it now. Would it be worth it to boost it up. Or should I save it and stick the money into a new block when the time comes? Also what maintenance should be performed and at what interval?Thanks Larry |
